ED is stands for Extra Low Dispersion Glass. ED glass is designed to provide precise optical color correction thus providing absolutely brilliant color contrast under any lighting conditions. Many, if not all ED spotter glass lenses, are usually fully-multi coated to deliver optimal color contrast and transmission across the visual spectrum and to reduce chromatic aberration. ED scopes are more expensive to produce more costly to produce and that is why the price of most ED spotting scopes is two to three times that of a conventional spotter.
