A quality spotting scope is a must have for every bird watching enthusiast. The ideal bird watching spotter incorporates high quality optical glass, lens coatings, and a lightweight housing for both convenience and brilliant color contrast. A quality 8-24x50 model may be just fine on a bright day for observing a bird approximately 10 feet to 20 feet away. But, if you're observing an eagle's nest ˝ mile away or even further, a higher power with spotting scope with Extra Low Dispersion (ED) glass lenses on a tripod is recommended. In practice you would expect to encounter different light conditions and expect to move from distant focusing to very close focusing. Under those conditions we recommend taking the close focus distance of a spotter into consideration. |
