The Outfitter Store: Reflector Telescopes
Refractors are also known as "Catadioptics" or "Newtonian". They use a concave parabolic primary mirror which collects and focuses incoming light onto a flat secondary (diagonal) mirror. The secondary mirror then reflects the image out of an opening at the side of the main optical tube and into the eyepiece. Reflector telescopes are most suitable for celestial (night sky) viewing. NOTE: Objects viewed through a reflector appear vertically inverted.
