Compact refracting telescopes feature an objective lens size of 50mm or less. Most of them are economically priced and combine functionality and compact portability. Compacts are great multi-purpose telescopes for field use or celestial viewing and they can also be used as a spotting scope. Although they are small in size, they are big on convenience! NOTE: Objects viewed through a refractor appear wrong reading left to right but right reading up and down.
